Avery Raquel is a Canadian Alternative Soul artist whose music fuses vintage Soul, R&B, Jazz, Blues and Pop into a modern, emotionally resonant sound. With a voice that defies her age and songwriting that blends vulnerability with maturity, Avery delivers a refreshing take on soul-infused storytelling. From an early age, Avery’s passion for music was unmistakable. As she began songwriting at age 15, her artistry evolved, and so did her sound—moving from her jazz roots into richer, more personal musical terrain. Her 2017 and 2018 albums (Without A Little Rain and My Heart Away) showcased this transition, earning national airplay and accolades across Canada. In 2020, Avery charted at #30 on Billboard, further displaying her prowess as a passionate songwriter and performer. Her 2022 self-titled album ‘Avery Raquel’ marked a bold leap into Alternative Soul, characterized by infectious grooves, lush harmonies, and honest lyrics. The album debuted at #5 on the Canadian iTunes Top 200 R&B/Soul chart and featured singles like "Helpless," "Please," and "All Up To You." The album's success was further cemented when five of its tracks were finalists in the 2022 John Lennon Songwriting Competition across four different categories, with one winning the Grand Prize. Upon her return from Europe in the Fall of 2024, where she spent a year performing and acquiring her master’s degree in music from Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Avery released her new EP ‘Scratching at the Surface’. Those atmospheric tracks blend Soul with subtle Alternative influences, creating a captivating vibe that melds colour into music along with poignant lyrics. Avery doesn’t stop writing and has released a new EP in the Spring of 2026 titled ‘Slow Motion’. Featuring her new singles ‘Like the Rain’, the highly anticipated ‘The Letter’, and ‘Shoes’, all of which were released as singles in late 2025, this new EP further complements her repertoire of originals while showcasing her multi-genre influences. Avery has graced stages across North America and Europe, including renowned music festivals, iconic clubs, and main-stage performing arts centres. She’s been featured on Canadian and US media such as CBC radio, Global News, CityTV, CTV, prominent newspapers and online blogs, has shared stages with artists such as David Clayton-Thomas and Sean Jones, and worked with artists and producers like Tyler Shaw and Christian Lohr (producer for Joss Stone). Known for her commanding stage presence and genre-blending sound, Avery Raquel is redefining what it means to be a soul artist in the 21st century. With each performance and release, she continues to carve a space that is unmistakably her own—honest, heartfelt, and deeply soulful.
