ARTIST BIO

Like a maple leaf in a gust above the prairies, Taylor Abrahamse blissfully glides beyond the borders of song, gender & genre with his/her soaring vocals, social conscience & hook-laden hammerclaw songsmithing. A Paul Simon/Prince/Jim Carrey crossbreed, (s)he’ll leave you laughing, moved, and singing along… if you can reach that high. At sixteen, Taylor was a finalist on Canadian Idol, and began regularly playing while getting her BFA in music at York University. Since then, Taylor has become a Kerrville Newfolk & Four Winds Emerging Artist Winner, FAI & NERFA showcase performer, as well as a Mariposa Emerging Artist finalist. Out of love for his writing, producer Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Bowie, etc), insisted on working with Taylor on his acclaimed FACTOR funded debut & deluxe edition. Despite housing & recording studio setbacks, she's also released two live albums including an ‘official bootleg’ solo concert, recorded in September '24 at folk institution Godfrey Daniels in Pennsylvania. Taylor has toured across the Northeast US & Canada playing countless Pride fests, house concerts, and co-bill slots with artists including Hawksley Workman, Susan Werner, Flamy Grant & more. Along with co-writing with various platinum-selling writers, Taylor’s music is also in the feature film 'About Fate' starring Emma Roberts, musicals, and TV series such as ‘Fangbone!’ (Disney) - one of many TV series in which Taylor voices main & supporting characters. Currently, Taylor managed to purchase a small home in Peterborough Ontario where she’s now created a new recording studio for herself and the community.
